BMW just revealed the new generation of the M2 for 2023, but they have already found a prototype for a tougher version, which will likely be the M2 CS.
The main giveaways are the prototype’s ducktail spoiler and front splitter. Both elements are common to BMW’s other CS cars, including the last M2 CS.
It’s hard to tell, but the brake rotors also appear larger on this prototype compared to the regular M2, and the ride height is slightly lower.
BMW CS cars fill the gap between the competition and CSL categories on dedicated M cars. Performance is increased in the usual way, with more power and less weight, and this will probably be the case with the new M2 CS.

At this stage, it is impossible to tell if the hood, roof and aerodynamic elements of the prototype will be carbon fiber like the last M2 CS. Some of these carbon parts are available as options on the regular M2 and should be on the M2 CS.
There is also more power to be found under the hood. Power for the regular M2 comes from a 3.0-liter turbo-6 engine that tops out at 453 hp. It’s not clear how much the M2 CS will make, but the base M3 with rear-wheel drive and a manual transmission is close to making 473 horsepower.
The new M2 CS is expected to debut in the second half of 2024, meaning it will arrive as a 2025 model. Production will almost certainly be limited, as with other CS models.
Before we know it, BMW will be ready to launch an M3 CS Touring. Prototypes of the hard car were also tested.
