Interesting finds: 1971 Volkswagen “Canna-Bus” Transporter

Many are younger than the Baby Boomers You may be too young to remember Cheech & Chong, but their fame transcends generations, probably thanks to “Up in Smoke” being one of the best VHS “Afterschool Specials” ever made (don’t ask me how I know). And when it comes to unusual tocky, there’s no vehicle that resonates with that lifestyle more than the Volkswagen Transporter.

Spotted at Barrett-Jackson’s Scottsdale 2023 the auction was a mobile tribute to the two comedians and their favorite plants. Technically, the vehicle is a 1971 Volkswagen Transporter, but it’s been renamed the Canna-Bus (a play on “cannabis” for you).

This 2020 refurbished VW bus is equipped with a 1600cc 4-speed manual transmission and has tons of cool details – weed-inspired and otherwise – like hand-painted lettering, fake marijuana plants, a smoke machine (as well as authentic essences), props like the “High Times” magazine, lots of stickers on the backlight and much more. It sold for 20,900, which is a rough deal if ever there was one.
