Jay Leno has had a rough week or two

Lots of Leno news in the last days. If you’re a fan of the man who loves cars as much as you do, but can’t afford to indulge, there are several things that might interest you.

The first is word that NBC Universal has canceled “Jay Leno’s Garage.” Industry publication “The Hollywood Reporter” says the cancellation is part of a “larger schedule shift” to fill the slot with reruns of “Shark Tank” and similar series — shows that feed off reality TV babies. And what about “Jay Leno’s Garage” on YouTube? It is not news if this is also affected.

In other Leno news, he was involved in a motorcycle accident on January 17th, although the accident was kept on the down-low after he suffered burns while working on one of his steam-powered jalopies. The story goes that he was knocked off his 1940 Indian after he cut through a parking lot when the wire that kept traffic in and out was roped.

Unfortunately, no one had placed a flag on the wire, so it was inconspicuous for the 72-year-old Leno. All because he smelled gas and turned it off to check things out! His physical injuries included a broken collarbone, two broken ribs and a torn kneecap, so from one car enthusiast to another we wish Jay the best in his recovery. And if we learn more about the videographer’s presence or lack thereof, the ClassicCars.com Journal will bring you the news.
