Loose metal pipe flies off truck, penetrates Perodua Ativa windshield and ends up on front passenger seat

The scene depicted here could have been straight out of a horror movie, except that it took place in reality and therefore posed a very real risk to life and well-being. According to the video Cass Cheng Sook Leng posted on Facebook, a metal pipe was released from a truck in the next lane in front of her vehicle; according to the owner of the vehicle, this happened on January 13 at 1:42 p.m.

Based on dash cam footage, it appeared the metal pipe came from the top of the truck and stuck to the camera vehicle upon impact.

According to later photos taken by the vehicle’s owner, the metal pipe penetrated the vehicle’s windshield and almost completely penetrated the passenger compartment, and a mark on the hood indicates that the pipe first made contact with the body before puncturing the windshield.

Fortunately, no one was sitting in the front passenger seat of this Ativa, which was almost completely occupied by the metal pipe.

However, the owner of the vehicle noted that his dogs were in the vehicle with him at the time. Research a coordinates Dashcam footage shows that this happened near the Rawang (Selatan) junction on the PLUS highway, heading north.

Driving close to other vehicles on the freeway, the vehicle involved in the incident appeared to have little room to maneuver and the dash cam was largely keeping up with traffic at the time. In any case, having a dashcam installed and functional will help record any incidents like this that occur. It also helps to have a suitable data carrier.
