Nissan improves the Z’s appearance

The Nissan Z does it seem humble to you? Perhaps it seems too evolutionary from the recently discontinued 370Z, but I was hoping for something more revolutionary. There’s a Z in the office right now, and after a quick jaunt (well, banzai run) around the block, I’m intrigued and may be a fan. However, the style still lacks something.

That way I caught the wind with some interest of this new dealer-installed bumper for the Japanese-spec Z, and now I might get the paradigm shift I’ve always needed. This element gives the appearance of a split grille and makes the Nissan Z look more like a modern iteration of the original 240Z.

Apparently this split grille is a custom Fairlady Zn debuting at the festival 2022 Tokyo Motor Show a year ago. The Fairlady also featured black eight-spoke wheels, black graphics on the hood and doors, fender flares, and a carbon fiber splitter and side skirts. According to Car and Driver , Nissan said the car was designed to “gauge customer and enthusiast interest in potential future add-ons.”

Now, a year later, it looks like the bumper piece will be available in Japan as a dealer-installed option in months. There is no word on whether the piece will make it to America or if it will end up being a factory installed piece, but both would make sense.

Do you prefer the look with or without the split grille?
