Cadillac Racing presents the colors of hybrid racers

While we still have to learn What Andretti’s Cadillac Formula 1 car will look like Currently, we have a look at the livery of Cadillac Racing’s three electrified V-LMDh race cars that will debut at the Rolex 24 at Daytona. While all three share a graphic and color theme, they each receive a different shade taken from the Cadillac V-Series emblem: the number 01 is gold, the number 02 is blue, and the number 31 is red.

“Aesthetically speaking, the LMDh specifications allowed us to create a vision of the car that is distinctly Cadillac,” says Chris Mikalauskas, Cadillac’s lead exterior creative designer. “And it’s very exciting for fans and true fans, every car is unique.”

The V-LMDh is powered by an all-new naturally aspirated LMC55R 5.5L DOHC V8 mated to the LMDh shared hybrid system. The engine, developed in-house by Cadillac, is rated at 670 horsepower (as per stock specification) with a seven-speed sequential transmission.

“Cadillac is ready to compete against the best in North America and internationally – including one of the toughest races in the world, the 24 Hours of Le Mans,” says Rory Harvey, Cadillac Global Vice President. “As Cadillac builds toward an all-electric future, the all-new V-LMDh continues our commitment to exploring new, advanced performance technologies.”

The blue 02 car pays tribute to Cadillac’s first 1950 Le Mans entry, ‘Le Monstre’, driven by Briggs Cunningham. Earl Bamber, Alex Lynn and Richard Westbrook jointly lead it in the FIA WEC, including the 100.th anniversary of the Le Mans 24 Hours and the Rolex 24 in Daytona.

The gold 01 Cadillac V-LMDh will be driven by Sebastien Bourdais and Renger van der Zande in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship; they will be joined by six-time IndyCar champion and four-time Rolex 24 At Daytona winner Scott Dixon at the 2023 Rolex 24 At Daytona. The red #31 Whelen Engineering car is driven by Pipo Derani and Alexander Sims in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. Jack Aitken will also join the team during the season.
