Make it easier with Volvo’s latest technology

You overslept your alarm. The birds are not yet chirping, the neighborhood is still, and the pitch black morning is barely beckoning to start the day. But as soon as you get into the car, a hint of sunshine greets you, turning your daily commute into a ritual that lights up the day.

The new Volvo EX90 further defines the premium car experience and illuminates the interior of the car almost like sunlight through a complete set of 72 SunLike LEDs.

Volvo’s designers sought to strengthen the connection with nature both during the day and at night. SunLike LEDs supplied by Seoul Semiconductor complement the panoramic sunroof and open cabin. The new flicker-free lighting addition enables a more natural color expression than the LEDs used in the automotive industry today – providing low glare and a high color index that expresses natural colors as seen in nature.

“Using the spectrum of light emitted by SunLike LEDs, the Volvo EX90’s progressive materials and interior design stand out more clearly and without color distortion.” says Dan Fidgett, head of color and materials. “Complementing the wood decoration and other natural materials in the cabin, the lamps play a central role in our Scandinavian design”.

While SunLike lamps are already used for natural lighting in interiors in residential spaces, hospitals, schools, museums and horticultural applications, Volvo Car Group is the first to introduce LEDs in production vehicles with the Polestar 3 and Volvo EX90.

All non-decorative lights in the interior of the Volvo EX90, whether on the ceiling, floor, door pockets or in the trunk, have SunLike LEDs as standard.

In addition to enhancing the aesthetics of the progressive interior, the SunLike lights provide natural comfort to all passengers of the Volvo EX90. Suppression of blue light, combined with non-flickering light emitted from cabin light fixtures, can help reduce eye strain and headaches associated with such exposure.
