Spring Fling: Pentastars Converge in LA

Chrysler Performance Westthe Chrysler Automobile Club of Southern Californiaadd 35th yearly Spring Fling show at Woodley Park in Van Nuys. The two-day event usually features over 700 cars, 300 swappers, 50 manufacturers and 9,000 spectators, and there was no reason to doubt that it would be another spectacular show for cars and fans.

The great tradition of the event is Malibu cruisewhere the owners depart from Van Nuys and drive to the famous rock shop on Mulholland Drive before cruising down the Pacific Coast Highway to Malibu for lunch before returning to the San Fernando Valley.

On Saturday, the show has a popular “show & shine” structure, without judging. This year the club hosted a special Aero Car display of the 1969 Dodge Charger 500 and Charger Daytona and the 1970 Plymouth Road Runner Superbird. On Sunday, thanks to the class review, things get a little more serious.

Of course there is also a swap meet which brings in the early birds because you know what they say about the worm! It takes seven hours to find the rare part missing from your restoration, although the swap meet can continue until 4pm before the show closes.

A family that plays together stays together!

The Spring Fling brings Mopar fans from hundreds of miles away to enjoy the beautiful spring weather in the shade of an Exner-era fin or Superbird wing. Take a look at the cool machines in attendance, thanks to the enthusiastic photography of Brad Miles.
