2024 Porsche 911 GT3 spy shots and video

Porsche’s latest 911 GT3 didn’t arrive until the 2022 model year, but an updated version has been tested, and this time we can see video footage.

The update appears to be mild and likely to coincide with the planned update of the entire 992 generation. Updated versions of the Carrera, Carrera Cabriolet, Carrera GTS, Targa, Turbo and Turbo S are also being tested. A new Heritage Design special with retro touches is also being tested and is believed to be a modern 911 S/T.

We expect the updated product line, referred to internally as Generation 992.2, to arrive late this year or early next year. Must be 2024 models.

Key among the updates is a revised dashboard with a fully digital instrument cluster, similar to the Taycan. This can be seen in the video below.

One specific update to the GT3, judging by this prototype, will be a revised rear end. The rear fascia is completely hidden, and parts of the diffuser near the exhaust tips appear to have extra off-road equipment.

It’s unclear what Porsche plans to do with the mechanical bits, but such updates usually include a small performance boost. The GT3 currently comes with a 4.0-liter flat-6 that produces a peak power of 502 hp and 346 lb-ft of torque. Power goes to the rear wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic or a 6-speed manual transmission.

Hybrid technology will be available on some models, though probably not on the GT3. Porsche CEO Oliver Blume said in 2022 that the 911’s hybrid system will be similar to that of the previous 919 Hybrid LMP1 race car and not a plug-in hybrid system like the 918 Spyder hypercar. This means there will be no plugging and the electric motor-generator(s) will only be used to support the internal combustion engine and recover energy during braking.
