The Nissan Z Nismo has been teased, debuting this summer

Nissan has yet to release variants of the variant new Z. We have a hotter version breathed on by the Nismo team.

On Thursday, Nissan confirmed that the 2024 Z Nismo will debut this summer. The confirmation was accompanied by a video of Formula Drift champion Chris Fosberg drifting the car.

Nissan said the Nismo Z will offer track-tuned performance. The latest Z tours and drives a little softer like previous models, which is great on the street, but leaves performance on the table around the track. The Nismo model should take care of this high-performance suspension.

The video teaser shows a body kit with Nismo’s trademark red lipstick around the lower edge, but it’s less toned down than the GT-R Nismo and previous Z Nismo models. At the rear, it features a Nismo body-colored spoiler with a larger lip, a larger rear diffuser and dual exhaust tips. The wheels are Nismo-spec and appear to be 20-inchers, wrapped in some variant of the Dunlop Sport Maxx summer performance tires.

Inside, the Nismo features Recaro performance bucket seats with holes to accommodate a five-point harness. The Nismo-specific design has been applied to the digital instrument cluster and there is now a red start button. The leather-covered three-spoke steering wheel has a red stripe at the 12 o’clock position.

The Nismo will be powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6. It’s unclear if the Nismo model will get more than the standard Z’s 400 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque, but it wouldn’t be difficult for the automaker to add the extra boost. The AZ can be ordered with a 6-speed manual transmission and a 9-speed automatic transmission. Either could be offered with the Nismo, and Nissan has so far been tight-lipped about whether it will feature two or three pedals.
